True Security™ Mobile

Remote Program Execution

Start programs on your monitored computers,
even encrypt your data remotely.

To effectively manage your mobile computers, you not only need to have access to the up-to-date information about your fleet but you also need to be able to act if your rules and policies are violated. It is even more critical to have the ability to respond if they are violated as a consequence of a security incident resulting in loss of control over a computer and the information it contains. Deleting sensitive files remotely is sometimes not a good option. Problems such as internal misuse of IT assets are much harder to deal with than common theft, and deleting data may be harmful for the company and your employee's mission. Insider related information misuse is not the only concern. There are situations where you need to not only block access to the information on the mobile computer, but must also restrict access to certain functionality or to restrict it only provisionally. You may want to limit user access to certain programs but you do not want to remove them completely. For instance, if your computer is temporarily out of your custody, or you left it somewhere by mishap, or lended it to somebody and you need to be sure that your data is safe and will not be viewed or copied without your permission. Standard computer password protection is a good safety measure but it will not prevent a computer savvy individual from accessing your information or reading it directly from the hard drive.

There are dozens of good products available, both commercial and freeware that allow you to locally encrypt your files or restrict access to computer resources. For example, NTFS file encryption that comes standard with most Windows operating systems. There are also Host Based Intrusion Prevention Systems readily available that can conditionally restrict access to computer software and hardware. Larger companies often prefer to use custom or in-house developed software that suits their specific needs. Whether this software is used for security, computer maintenance, or information gathering purposes, if your mobile computer is not in your hands or is outside of your LAN, you will not be able to activate the software you need. How can you launch a program if you don't have access to your computer? All this software must be launched remotely when you need it to act, no matter where your computer is.

With True Security™ Remote Program Execution, you can not only remotely launch programs on mobile computers but you can also see what software is installed and what software you need to launch. You can access your computer and start any program you need as if it were still in your hands. You can do this remotely, over any internet connection, or configure the system to act when there is no internet connection available after the computer is started. In this case it will automatically execute programs you have previously selected. To abort this action the user will need to enter a password that you have selected. You can also set a "no activity" option that allows you to execute programs if the monitored computer has not connected to the internet in the preset number of days. All configuration can be done remotely through your SafeFrontier web account. You can select the programs you want to start, the "no connect" timeouts, a password to abort the "no connect" response, and can activate remote program execution anytime you need. Just login to your account, open the Incident Response Policy page and choose the appropriate settings. Now you can remotely initiate any incident response action from anywhere in the world, and with "no connect" you can even start these programs automatically.

Data encryption is important for anyone who wants or needs security, including financial institutions, law-enforcement, government agencies, and corporations. But it is also important to have full control over your mobile assets when they are outside of your walls and networks. It is also important to assist your mobile team by being able to remotely start utility programs, check and resolve operability issues, and in the event of a security incident to protect your valuable assets. Now you can remotely, over any internet connection, launch programs like Disk or File Encryption, Data Backup, Computer Maintenance or Diagnostic Utilities, or any other application of your choice. You can use this powerful functionality to remotely encrypt data if your computer is lost or stolen. You can temporarily prevent users from accessing certain data on the computer or even restrict access to computer software and hardware. Now you can set and execute different programs on your mobile computers quickly and easily and centrally manage and protect all your mobile and remote computers all over the world.
